CEIA Breakfast Briefing

TAPSTAK was delighted to be invited to take part in this year’s ceia business briefing, hosted in the cetb centre in Bishopstown  on the 20th of September 2018.  The theme of the briefing was Industrial Artificial Intelligence and focused on the social and economic benefits brought about with the advancement of AI.

Over the course of the morning 3 speakers addressed different aspects of the subject from the origin and field of study of AI, industrial advancement and the business case for AI and the human/ AI relationship.


Tim Horgan – Head of Department of Computer Science, CIT

Who announced the launch of a new full-time master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) this year which aims to provide a technical deep-dive into the area of AI and to produce AI engineers with a highly relevant skillset in AI topics.

Tim spoke about AI and the opportunity & benefit  for industry,  outlining the MSc degree objectives, the type of candidates who will take up the program.


Oonagh O’Shea – Senior. Manager Accenture Digital

 Oonagh discussed the Digital Reinvention of Industry and the right combination of advanced technologies that can enable digital transformation and enterprise-wide growth, with a specific focus on the workforce of the future.

Speaking about how the Connected Industrial Worker offers huge potential for improving industrial and operational outcomes through technologies such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality –to facilitate faster decision-making, safer work environments, less non-productive time and travel, fewer mechanical failures,less rework and better training experiences.


Michelle Donovan – CEO of TAPSTAK

Michelle’s presentation was on  “A Universal Interface for everything”

How a mobile engagement platform providing a mobile application as a service can make it quicker, simpler and more cost-effective for businesses to get on mobile while offering smart-phone owners one simple way to interact with the world around them and make it as simple as a tap on your smart-phone.


Having finished the presentations the attendees were given the opportunity to experience the some of the latest Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality devices available to industry for the new connected workforce.
